Willamette Valley Riverfront Real Estate Guide

Article thumbnail

Does relaxing on your back deck or yard to the sound of the Willamette River flowing by sound good to you? If so, you’ll want to keep reading. Many people dream of living the waterfront lifestyle, but finding available riverfront real estate can take some work.

We already created a comprehensive guide for riverfront real estate along the Columbia River, this article will focus on the banks of the Willamette River.

To do some of the necessary leg work for you, we did an extensive search to find Willamette River riverfront property in Oregon along the Willamette Valley. We found a plethora of options from single-family homes to condos to floating homes in a variety of price ranges.

We start at Portland’s north end on Sauvie Island and head south along the Willamette River way down to Newberg. Then we cross the river and head back north until the Willamette River converges with the Columbia River.

Willamette Riverfront Single-Family Homes

If you love the water, what could be better than living on the shore of the Willamette River? In many cases, riverfront homes are shielded from other nearby homes with stands of trees, which only enhance the serene riverfront lifestyle. Imagine sitting on your back porch or deck to the sound of the river flowing by and, in some cases, having the freedom to wander down to your own private boat ramp or beach.  See all riverfront detached homes for sale here.

Willamette Riverfront Condos

We all know that owning your home is by far a better financial decision than long-term renting. But with the real estate market as it is right now, achieving this might feel like a pipe dream. One way to stake your claim on a piece of property and sidestep the consistently rising home prices in the area is to invest in a condo or townhome. You’ll get all the benefits of owning and more, like no lawn work or surprise repair costs, with these typically covered by the HOA. Granted, HOA fees vary widely, so it’s always a good idea to check this out before you let yourself fall in love with a place before you’ve officially viewed it. See all riverfront condos for sale here.

On the River, Willamette River Floating Homes

If you love the water so much you want to live on it, you’re in luck. Portland has a few pockets of floating home communities on the Willamette. While this unique lifestyle isn’t for everyone (you’ll be close to your neighbors!), it’s ideal for those looking for a more low-cost investment who want easy access to city amenities without having to live in the city proper.
