Top Five Portland Real Estate News Sources

Whether you’re a buyer or seller on the Portland real estate market, it pays to be informed. The market is moving fast, and so is the city! So where do you turn for the most up-to-date data, in-depth reporting and helpful advice?
Here are my top sources for news about Portland, real estate, and more.

1. Front Porch, the Oregonian’s real estate column

The biggest news source in Portland dedicates a judicious amount of space to covering the real estate market, with short and to-the-point articles about market conditions and fun highlights of homes on the market. Unlike a lot of major newspapers, Oregon Live! (the name of the Oregonian’s online edition) doesn’t charge for articles or limit how many you can read for free. Just don’t get sucked into reading the comments section at the end of articles — trust me, I have and never learned a thing!

2. Portland Monthly’s Real Estate section

Portland’s urban magazine doesn’t cover real estate news as often as the Oregonian, but they do it more in-depth. Excellent, well researched articles about the driving factors behind real estate trends, housing, and demographics. There are no annoying ads and all content is free, hooray.

3. Portland Business Journal Residential Real Estate News

The Business Journal does excellent reporting on real estate developments, as well as the people and businesses behind the action. Unfortunately, many of the articles are available by subscription only, but what’s available for free is often very useful. Go here if you’re looking to buy or lease an apartment or condo in Portland, or if you’re considering an investment property. I would consider this source to be the most professional and often has in-depth content not available elsewhere.

4. Portland Architecture Blog

Check out unique homes and buildings in Portland with great photos and descriptions, learn about the various architectural styles around Portland, and stay up to date on upcoming neighborhood tours. Blog author Brian Libby has been writing about architecture for 15 years, but his coverage extends beyond brick and mortar. Check the “categories” column on the right for articles on real estate, Portland housing, and more.

5. Oregon Office of Economic Analysis Blog

If you’d rather nerd out on numbers than on pictures of neat houses, this is the blog to check out. The authors are all senior economists and analysts for the State of Oregon, and their mission is to provide objective forecasts of the state’s economy, revenue, population and more. Employment and income data can help you decide if Portland is the city for you, while the housing-specific information gives specific numbers about affordability and movement in the Portland real estate market. Best of all, it’s ad-free and easy to navigate!

Of course, my favorite place for you to get all your real estate news would be right here! I have direct access to the RMLS market data, which I translate into articles that any reader can understand, and post right here every month. I also post from extensive, personal experience in this industry as a top 1% real estate agent in Portland. Let me know if I can use my real estate market experience for you.
