The Portland real estate market has been quite volatile since the advent of COVID 19 in early 2020. No one predicted the seller’s market we are in now. After COVID 19 hit, home became more important than ever to the entire country, somehow at the same time dramatically decreasing inventory and dramatically increasing buyer demand. 2020 is a year that will go down in Portland real estate market infamy. We had a massive drop in showings, over 60% in March when COVID first hit the real estate market. The rebound in our market was about as fast as the decline, about 100% market rebound in July 2020. In Portland your real estate agent has access to the MLS, here called the RMLS which gives an incredible amount of real estate market data, including weekly buyer traffic reports and total inventory reports broken down into active, pending, and sold properties. The average days it takes a home before it receives an accepted offer on the Portland real estate market and goes pending is charted by RMLS, our local multiple listing service. The below picture shows how many days on average it has taken for the last five years to get an accepted offer on a Portland home in our real estate market. RMLS covers SW Washington and most of northern Oregon, all the way from the coast to the far east. It fully covers the Portland real estate market area and beyond.
